Lake Powell

In the Glen Canyon National recreation area, as a reservoir on the Colorado river that spans Utah and Arizona, Lake Powell is the second largest man-made reservoir in the USA after Lake Mead in Nevada/Arizona. This reservoir was named after John Wesley Powell, an American Civil War veteran who explored the river in 1869.

Composed by 24,322,000 acre feet of water when full and with more than 1900 miles of shoreline ringed by canyons, red cliffs and inlets, Lake Powell offers some spectacular geologic views!

El Lago Powell se extiende por Utah y Arizona en el área del cañón Glen como un depósito del río Colorado. Haciendolo el segundo mayor depósito artificial en los Estados Unidos después del lago Mead en Nevada / Arizona. Esta reserva fue nombrada después de que el veterano de la Guerra civil estadounidense John Wesley Powell exploró el río en 1869.

Compuesto por 24,322,000 de acres-pies de agua cuando está lleno y con más de 1900 millas de costa rodeada de cañones, acantilados color rojo y ensenadas, el Lago Powell ofrece unas vistas geológicas espectaculares!

Dye me a river

The Irish are definitely in their element during St. Patrick's day in Chicago, the symbolic event where Chicagoans emerge from their winter's hibernation to celebrate. Everything turns green in the city for the festivity, from its beer to its river.

Besides wearing fun green outfits the green river is almost everyones favorite part. It has been 50 years of crowds lining up along the shores and on the bridges around 10:00 am to watch the boats release the dye while stirring it until the river has achieved its final and famous emerald green look. If you are in the windy city for this event, it is definitely worth getting up early to grab a seat to observe! Have a lucky week!!♣

Los Irlandeses definitivamente pueden sentirse en su elemento durante el día de San Patricio en Chicago, el evento simbólico en el que los "Chicagoans" deciden terminar de invernar y salir a celebrar. Durante la festividad todo se torna de verde en la ciudad, desde su cerveza hasta su río. 

Ademas de los divertidos atuendos verdes, el río es sin duda la parte favorita de todo el mundo. Este año se cumplen 50 años en los que las multitudes se alinean a lo largo de las orillas del río y sobre los puentes al rededor de las 10 de la mañana para ver pequeños botes soltar el colorante mientras se diluye hasta que el río obtenga su famoso color verde esmeralda. 

Así es que si  estas en la ciudad de los vientos durante este evento, te aconsejo que te despiertes temprano y vayas hasta el río a observar!Que tengan una feliz semana!Con mucha suerte!!♣
