National Geographic Traveler Magazine photo contest

Stingray Sandbar, Grand Cayman.   Ph. Thomas Pepper

It's been 25 years since the National Geographic Traveler magazine photo contest begun. I have always loved to see different ways of seeing and interpreting the world through the lens of the contestants, and this year is no exception... These are some of my favorite pictures for this years contest.

Haute Spring

"What life can compare with this? Sitting quietly by the meadow, I watch the leaves fall and the flowers bloom as the seasons come and go". -Seccho

"We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers. They see things in the soft haze of a spring day or in the red fire of a long winter's evening. Some of us let these great dreams die, but others nourish and protect them; nurse them through bad days till they bring them to the sunshine and light which comes always to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true". -Woodrow Wilson

"All through the long winter, I dream of my garden. On the first day of spring, I dig my fingers deep into the soft heath. I can feel its energy, and my spirits soar". -Helen Hayes

"Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers today:
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year". -Robert Frost

"If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome". -Anne Bradstreet

This is how I 'picture' spring, literally.

And after all , you are my Wonderworld.

As you might already know Earth Day was celebrated worldwide on April 22, an event now in its 42nd year and observed in 175 countries. Even thought this post might seem for most of you more like an utopia than the "reality" we have created and live in, I wanted to focus more in the bright side by showing how EXTRAORDINARY our earth is!! Maybe even inspire you to take a little more care of it?.. Remember, "Small changes make a BIG difference".
